How to choose a date vibe for a thrilling experience in NYC?
Choosing the perfect date spot is an art form. Selecting a special setting is the foundation of a successful date. It sets the tone of the rendezvous. Ideally, you would pick a place that is a reflection of your interests that matches your intentions for the date. Key factors to keep in mind for selecting the best setting: comfortability (will you and your date both feel safe enough to be yourselves?), ambiance (does the location have proper lighting and sound?), location (is it convenient for both parties to get to?), and finally affordability (we all know dating can get expensive!) Depending on the connection you’re hoping to create, these factors can vary greatly. Here’s a list of my top 5 favorite spots for a hot date in NYC. Plus! Some spicy information about dessert.
Drinks and dinner date: best sushi in NYC
Owned and operated by some of NYC’s finest, Time is the hottest new sushi restaurant in the Lower East Side, Manhattan. If you’re the type of person who gets off on the coolest new cuisine (hello foodies!!), this inviting atmosphere is sure to please. Due to its high popularity, and limited seating, it’s sure to provide a chic setting for you and your potential new boo.
Museum date: smart art and a walk in Central Park
If you wish to stand out and deviate from the norm (dinner/drinks), plus potentially impress your hot date with some artsy fun — a trip to the museum could be for you! The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a personal favorite of mine — rich with history and iconic exhibitions, not to mention steps away from a beautiful stroll in Central Park. If you’re feeling frisky, be sure to check out the Museum of Sex for some sexy and interactive fun. You might even pick up something naughty from the gift shop to use on future dates. ;)
Music date: get a reservation at Eavesdrop and enjoy
Popular for music lovers who adore a vintage vibe, Eavesdrop is a great place to sit and snack for your first date. Located in Greenpoint, Eavesdrop serves up a sensual setting full of craft cocktails, natural wines, small plates, and music in a space designed for sound. Getting a reservation at this sought-after date spot might lead you and your boo to seek out date number two!
Erotic vibes on a romantic date: good times and an erotic show
Two sides of a more debaucherous coin — House of Yes and The Box are two of the most entertaining venues for those who dare to walk on the wild side. House of Yes is a classic Bushwick venue that is a go-to for kinksters and folks who are interested in having a good time. They host a wide variety of events that are kink and queer friendly. The Box is a more upscale intimate erotic theater show with interactive performaces that will definitely make an impression. Be sure to dress your best! They have a dress code.
Dancing date night: sweat and fun in NYC
If small talk isn’t your thing, but dancing the night away IS, I highly recommend Public Records. Famous for its world-renowned DJs, the playlist will have you and your date learning each other’s body language. Tucked away in Gowanus, Public Records will give you and your plus one the pleasurable privacy you need to let loose and have some fun.
